If you thought car insurance in Miami-Dade was pricey, you were right.

According to the consumer website carinsurance.com, the 33142 ZIP code in Miami had the highest average annual premium in Florida and the ninth most expensive in the nation, at $2,248.

The state’s No. 2, 3 and 4 slots were also in Miami-Dade: 33010 in Hialeah ($2,248), 33147 in Miami ($2,247) and 33135 in Miami ($2,244).

The county’s least expensive was in Miami Beach in 33140, with an average rate of $1,638.

The 33313 ZIP code in Fort Lauderdale had the highest average annual premium — $1,844 — in Broward County. But the cheapest average rate was nearby in western Pembroke Pines: $1,606 in ZIP code 33028.
